My Race History

*July 8th, 1979 - my first ever race in the "amateur" division at Weedsport Speedway, in a 1967 Chevy Impala, #6A. I took home the first place trophy in my first ever race! (The real story is - they gave me the wrong trophy, I actually finished third!) This car was destroyed a few weeks later, and I finished the season in a Pontiac Lemans 4 door.

*Early 80’s - I raced at Weedsport Speedway, Rolling Wheels Raceway, Brookfield Speedway, Brewerton Speedway, and Fulton Speedway. I competed in amateurs, street stocks, and also a few weeks in a VW mini-sprint.

* Mid 80’s - More racing in the amateur division at mostly Brewerton and Fulton Speedways. Also a few races at Evans Mills Speedway (on the dirt). A couple of runs in Paul Gorman’s Late Model at Fulton Speedway, as well. The highlight was a second place in points at Fulton Speedway in the pure stocks, along with my first ever feature win on July 30th, 1983.

* Late 80’s - My first wins in the pure stock division, after I bought Pat Abold’s (yes - THE Pat Abold) ‘69 Grand Prix racecar. With some Todd Crouse Pontiac 400 engines, we figured out how to go fast, and won a half dozen races at Brewerton Speedway. (I still have this car, and it may see action again someday, when my son gets tall enough to reach the pedals!)

* Early 90’s - Our successful association with new car owner Dan Brown of Phoenix, N.Y. began, as we raced with success in the pure stock division, before moving up to the competitive street stock division, in Dan’s Sears Chassis Camaro. Two feature wins, and a shot at the championship in 1993 highlighted our association. A Dan Brown owned two car team with Tom Sears, Jr. in 1994 was a lot of fun.

* 1995 - Our switch from dirt to pavement racing began, as I cut a deal to drive Steve Miller’s supermodified at Oswego Speedway for the ‘95 season. The highlight was a 13th place finish in the "Mr. Supermodified" race, as I found the change from dirt to pavement quite challenging!

*1996 / 1997 - Ed and Pitt Watson were gracious enough to give me my first ride in the limited super division at Oswego Speedway, on an occasional basis.

* 1998 - I first met Rob Pollitt, of Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and raced his #93 limited super a few times. The highlight was winning the Gater News Best Appearing Car and Crew Award during Classic Weekend, just three weeks after flipping the car hard down the backstretch. A 10th place finish in NORA points.

* 1999 - More races in the Pollitt Demolition #93, including my first pavement win, at Evans Mills Speedway. An 8th place finish in NORA points.

* 2000 - Our first full season in the #93 brought a win at Spencer Speedway, and a 16th place finish in points at Oswego Speedway. We also had a shot at the NORA title, before fading to 4th.

* 2001 - Our first ever feature win at Oswego Speedway highlighted our 2001 season, along with a feature win in the first ever limited super race held at Adirondack International Speedway. A 9th place finish in points at Oswego Speedway.

* 2002 - A win at Evans Mills Speedway highlighted our season, as we fell back to an 11th place finish in points at Oswego Speedway. Several wrecks plagued our tough season.

* 2003 - Our first top five in points highlighted the '03 season, as we were very consistent all year. Out of 10 races at Oswego Speedway, we finished 7th or better seven times. Only misfortune on double points nights kept us out of a race for the points championship, which we led earlier in the season. But our crew earned "Car and Crew of The Year" award, due to the fact that we finished EVERY feature throughout the year. NO hard crashes and NO mechanical failures made our season a success. With a new "DOGG Chassis", built by Marsden Fabrication, we look forward to a run at the championship in ‘04! 2003 also marked the first year with JJ Andrews as majority owner of the #93, with Rob Pollitt still on the team as major sponsor.

* 2004 -  We finished 7th in the final championship points standings at Oswego Speedway, against a competitive field which again averaged 35 cars every week. During the regular season we finished in the top ten nine times out of fourteen races, five times in the top five, and three top threes.  We again finished with ZERO mechanical failures during the season. Repeat - ZERO mechanical failures - two seasons in a row!  At the season-ending Budweiser International Classic, we received:
*The Gater News Best Appearing Car and Crew Award, for an unprecedented SEVENTH consecutive season.* We won one of the two qualifying heats. * After starting in 22nd position, our car passed thirteen cars to receive the HARD CHARGER award, which is awarded to the driver that passes the MOST cars during the feature. The 9th place finish was my fifth consecutive top ten finish in the Budweiser International Classic, with finishes of 10th in 2003, 4th in 2002, 2nd in 2001, and 8th in 2000.

* 2005 -  We again finished in the top ten in championship points, this year in 8th position.  We had finishes of 7th or better seven different times. Our string of ZERO mechanical failures continued, for the third year in a row. Our only "did not finish" during the entire season was due to a crash caused by other cars, relegating us to a 20th place finish in August. We earned our sixth consecutive top ten finish during the Budweiser International Classic event, finishing in 7th position, after starting in 21st. This finish earned us our second consecutive HARD CHARGER award, which is awarded to the driver that passes the MOST cars during the feature event. This finish moved us into the top five in ALL TIME Classic points.
